john graham I think this is my favourite release from SF. Complex but completely accessible, i never felt like i was being left behind scratching my chin. Sumptuous chord changes, uplifting beats, so many little gifts to discover, take in and enjoy.

Favorite track: Gleaming the Cube.

about

‘Two Moon Junction’ is an album that dances between the opposite ends of a series of spectra. Never fully settling on urgency or ease, force or submission, hesitance or flow. Recordings began with an 808 drum machine clone programmed to perform algorithmic polyrhythms – taking these well familiar sounds into more complex interlocking groove cycles. These patterns were then used to inform and drive acoustic melodies and electronic sound designs inhabiting a space that’s somewhere between the human and the mechanical. Upright piano cavorts with Buchla synthesiser on the dreamy lament ’Silvermint’ while major key plucked arpeggios cascade around footwork tinged rhythms on ’Spike the Punch’. A sense of organic cultivation arrises as elements are encouraged rather than controlled while still retaining an emotional sense of resolve.
